This demonstration report covers a greenhouse project for green potted plants near Perpignan, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. The project and its exact GPS location are fictional and were created by JvE Advice to show what a Climate-Data report delivers. All charts are based on ten years of hourly historical weather data (2016 to 2025) for the exact GPS coordinates and describe outside conditions. The reference crop is Dieffenbachia, a crop that needs moderate light and a stable climate, so the charts show where the outside climate matches these needs and where shading, cooling or heating is required.
Location Information
Aerial view · 10 km
Perpignan lies in Köppen-Geiger zone Csa: a hot-summer Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. In the ten years of data, the outside temperature ranged from -4.4 °C to 41.6 °C and solar radiation peaked at 1,190 W/m². For greenhouse design this means a high light and heat load from May to September, which calls for sufficient ventilation capacity, shading and cooling, especially for a low-light crop such as green potted plants. Winters are mild, so heating demand is limited, but an energy screen remains useful on cold, clear nights. The region is also known for a strong north-westerly wind, the Tramontane, which matters for the greenhouse structure and for vent control. The charts in this report translate this classification into monthly detail, providing the location-specific insight that a climate map alone cannot offer.

These are the optimized growing guidelines for the selected crop — the ranges JvE Advice uses to judge whether the outdoor climate on the previous pages supports good growing conditions, or where extra climate control (heating, cooling, screening, supplemental light) is needed.
